I’m Ross — I make software that respects your nervous system.
For 14 years I’ve worked across iOS, web platforms and developer tools — from tiny indie apps to systems used by millions. Somewhere along the way I got tired of dark patterns, infinite feeds and “move fast” theatre. So I went independent.
Now I do three things: build small, profitable tools with tiny teams, write weekly essays about technology and attention, and help founders simplify their product and delete 30% of everything.
Previously: senior engineer at product companies in London & Berlin, indie hacker, open-source maintainer, photography nerd, hill-walker, espresso snob. I live between Edinburgh and the Highlands and work worldwide, async.

Technology should be almost invisible
Good tools whisper. They load instantly, work offline, respect focus, and never beg for attention. I measure success in nervous-system calm, not daily actives.
Delete more than you add
Simplicity is a daily practice. Fewer dependencies, fewer screens, fewer settings. Every quarter I archive features and watch support tickets drop.
Attention is the last scarce resource
Your focus is not inventory to be sold. I write about deep work, slow reading, single-tasking, and designing days that protect 3 hours of uninterrupted making.
Think in loops, not funnels
Most problems are systems problems. I map incentives, feedback loops and second-order effects before writing a line of code.
Small teams, owned audience, profit
You don’t need VC to matter. One great tool, 1,000 true fans, and full ownership beats a unicorn chase that burns everyone out.
